I have a couple of kids. And some friends. Who have some kids, and our kids are all friends. And those kids all have friends. Our kids and some of their friends have been, or are going, to other parts of the world for various reasons. They are transcending borders with hardly a second thought, without a firm grasp, even, of what those arbitrary borders signify. When I was their age, that we could go somewhere else to study or work or just live for a time was not a possibility we were made aware of. I have no time for false nostalgia and those who believe that the world was better back in the day, which always means back in their day. I also truly believe that the more we travel, the better off the world will be. It’s hard to hate people who’ve welcomed you into their end-of-school-year-cross-dressing tradition.
