A few weeks ago I did some yard work: I used flag tape to mark several plants in the yard that need to go away because they are ugly. One of them was this rhododendron, which looked nothing like this when I tied the red strip of death on its mostly bare and scraggly (and not in an interesting way) branches:
Here it is with the azalea, which is quite obviously still going strong. So strong that I’m afraid that it’s shot its wad and when the flowers wither and fall off there will be nothing left other than a few smoking stubs of what used to be branches to hint at its former glory.
I may have to rethink my plant-purging selections, but this rhododendron is safe.
